A WORD

There is a word
An awesome word
That helps one see the sparkle in the sand.
It rules each facet of your life
Yet serves at your command.

It gives joy to you and courage.
And fills unexpected moments
with spontaneity.
It hears the universal band
play harmony or dissonance;
Sees God as Father, or tyrant deity.

It raises duty to a privilege,
And makes the painful trials we face
To be to us our ruin
Or the heart to run the race.

If it sours so will you.
If it soars, you will too.
Never forget, in any mood
That you decide your attitude.
